Quarantine questions

 

                                                     ?Quarantine Questions?

Kerri, Holly, Ashley and Teressa have reviewed current quarantine guidelines and have created this quick reference for our patients to help them make good decisions on quarantine practices for themselves and their families. Please realize that these are guidelines and there will always be special cases and situations however we recommend sticking to these recommendations whenever possible. 

You are Covid + and have Symptoms that are mild/moderate and typical of Covid

  • Isolation can be discontinued at least 5 days after symptom onset (day 1 through day 5 after symptom onset, with day 0 being the first day of symptoms), and after resolution of fever for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medications) and with improvement of other symptoms.
  • These people should continue to properly wear a well-fitted mask around others at home and in public for 5 additional days (day 6 through day 10 after symptom onset) after the 5-day isolation period.
  • People who cannot properly wear a mask, including children < 2 years of age and people of any age with certain disabilities, should isolate for 10 days.

You are Covid + with NO symptoms

  • Isolation can be discontinued at least 5 days after the first positive viral test (day 0 through day 5, with day 0 being the date their specimen was collected for the positive test).
  • These people should continue to properly wear a well-fitted mask around others at home and in public for 5 additional days (day 6 through day 10) after the 5-day isolation period. Day 0 is the date their specimen was collected for the positive test and day 1 is the first full day after the specimen was collected for the positive test.
  • If a person develops symptoms after testing positive, their 5-day isolation period should start over (day 0 changes to the first day of symptoms).
  • People who cannot properly wear a mask, including children < 2 years of age and people of any age with certain disabilities, should isolate for 10 days.

You have been Exposed to Covid 19

If you were exposed to COVID-19 and are NOT up to date on COVID-19 vaccination

*The date of your exposure is considered day 0. Day 1 is the first full day after your last contact with a person who has had COVID-19.

* Stay home and away from other people for at least 5 days. 

*Wear a well-fitting mask if you must be around others in your home.

*Do not travel.

*Even if you don’t develop symptoms, get tested at least 5 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19.

After Day 5 of quarantine

*watch for symptoms until 10 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19.

*It is best to avoid travel until a full 10 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19.

*If you develop symptoms Isolate immediately and get tested. Stay home until you have your results and Wear a well-fitting mask for 10 full days any time you are around others inside your home or in public. Do not go to places where you are unable to wear a well-fitting mask

*Avoid being around people who are more likely to get very sick from COVID-19.

If you Were exposed to COVID-19 and are up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations

*You do not need to stay home unless you develop symptoms.

*Even if you don’t develop symptoms, get tested at least 5 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19.
*Watch for symptoms until 10 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19.

*If you develop symptoms, Isolate immediately and get tested. Continue to stay home until you know the results. Wear a well-fitting mask around others.

*Wear a well-fitting mask for 10 full days any time you are around others inside your home or in public. Do not go to places where you are unable to wear a well-fitting mask.

*Avoid being around people who are more likely to get very sick from COVID-19.

If you were exposed to COVID-19 and had confirmed COVID-19 within the past 90 days (you tested positive using a viral test)

*You do not need to stay home unless you develop symptoms.

*Watch for symptoms until 10 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19.

*If you develop symptoms, Isolate immediately and get tested. Continue to stay home until you know the results. Wear a well-fitting mask around others.

*Wear a well-fitting mask for 10 full days any time you are around others inside your home or in public. Do not go to places where you are unable to wear a well-fitting mask.

*Avoid being around people who are more likely to get very sick from COVID-19.
